Christian Education Program
We believe Christian Education is a valuable and important part of living for Jesus Christ in the world. We don’t think any of us ever reach the point where we can’t learn something new about God, our Savior, the Church or the Bible.
During 2011, the Christian Education Task Force developed Overall Objectives and Expectationsd for Christian Education. The six page document lays our our goals for cognitive, emotive and behavioral learning for all ages. The document is available by contacting Brian Secor by clicking here. The Task Force stated ....
Our Christian Education Purpose: The purpose of Christian Education is to teach the Gospel and the truth of God so that individuals and the Church live out the Christian faith in daily life until the Lord calls them home to heaven.
Our Prime Objective: To know Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.
To accomplish this, we offer---
- Sunday School classes from age 4 through adult each Sunday at 11 am.
- A professionally staffed nursery is available for children under age 4 during Worship and Sunday School.
- Children’s Worship weekly.
- A Women’s Bible Study that meets the second and fourth Tuesday at the church building.
If you’re looking to grow in the faith and in knowledge and love for Jesus Christ, join us! You’ll be glad you did!
If you have questions, please call Brian Secor, Christian Education Team Leader, at 672-8695 or email him by clicking here.
Sunday School Classes
There are two Sunday School classes for the younger children in our congregation (see our Children's Program page for more information). We have classes for:

- 4 years old through First Grade
- 2nd through 5th Graders
The High School and Middle School youth meet for Sunday School in their own decorated room, complete with refrigerator, TV and VCR, computer, and a Ping-Pong table. You'll find more information about our Youth Program on the Youth Activities page.
February continues our Winter Quarter for adults. We offer three classes for adults weekly at 11 am. We hope you’ll join one!
The opportunity to discuss and study the Word of God is the greatest privilege we
have as a free people. All around the world, people have to read, study and discuss the Bible and God’s truth in secret, under threat of being thrown in prison. Yet, often folks think they know it all and don’t need to consider God’s truth in a small group context, that they’re too grown up for Sunday School. Don’t let this privilege be wasted! Come join us for Sunday School this week and exercise the privilege!
The Knowing God Class meets in the Fellowship Hall under the leadership of Jack Heller and Lloyd Porter. Utilizing J. I. Packer’s classic book of the same name, February discussions will involve the following:
Feb. 5 Ch. 7 God Unchanging
Feb. 12 Ch. 8 The Majesty of God
Feb. 19 Ch. 9 God Only Wise
Feb. 26 Ch. 10 God’s Wisdom and Ours
In the Library, the book of Ephesians is under discussion. Brian Secor and Nick Knappenberger lead the discussion of this fantastic New Testament treatise on what it means to be in Christ. The section for this month involves the how to and what to do part of the book. The schedule includes:
Feb. 5 Ephesians 4:17-32 Children of Light, Part 1
Feb. 12 Ephesians 5:1-20 Children of Light, Part 2
Feb. 19 Ephesians 5:21-6:4 Household Life
Feb. 26 Ephesians 6:5-23 Christian Soldiers
A third class is the Pastor’s Class that meets in the Pastor’s Study. There you will find Rev. Matthews ready to talk with you about the sermon or other matters you would like to discuss.
Adult classes present an opportunity to grow in understanding of God’s Word and to grow in relationships with one another. Please pick a class and participate. It will do your body and soul good!
Children Church Programs
Each Sunday, following the Children's Message time with the Pastor in our Service, children (ages 4 through 5th grade) are invited to leave the sanctuary to worship God in a manner consistent with their age and development.
Youth Club Program
A Youth Club (LOGOS) program for children and youth is held each Wednesday (during the school year) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This is like "going to camp" or having a little Vacation Bible School with games, crafts, food, music, worship, and Christian learning that kids enjoy. To learn more, access the Youth Club LOGOS Program page.
Vacation Bible School---July 25 to 29, 2011
Vacation Bible School was July 25 to 29 this year at Christ's Community. Our theme was "Hometown Nazareth---When Jesus Was a Kid". We had a great time together, expecting and experiencing God doing great things. Thrity-three children and thrity-one staff participated in VBS! Our Missions Project for the Solomon Islands raised $195 which was used to send backpacks made by participants and Pidgin Bibles for distirbution by missionaries. For more information about VBS 2011, contact Brian Secor, the 2011VBS director, by email or by phone 672-8695, to answer any questions you may have.
Christian Education Committee
The 2012 Christian Edcuation Committee is composed of Brian Secor, Lloyd Porter, Marlene Sackett, Cecil Henn and Lois Clond. If you have suggestions for topics, classes or groups for Christian Education, please contact us or send us an email. We meet the odd numbered months on the third Wednesday at 7 pm. Delighted to have your input or suggestions on how we can help folks be discipled in the Christian faith!
